Activity in Rennes Atalante
Centre of research and tertiary education.
The university counts just under 18,500 students enrolled in initial or lifelong education in five UFR (Tuition and Research Faculties): sport; art; humanities and communication; languages; human sciences and social sciences.
Through the partnerships they are developing with the CNRS (National Centre for Science and Research) and with public or private bodies, research units are essential actors in the development of scientific knowledge and its promotion.
Research and development
At the University of Rennes 2, research in languages, humanities, human and social sciences, takes place within twenty one units most of which are associated with other universities or with the CNRS. These units, which regularly welcome foreign researchers, are grouped together to encourage the emergence of poles of excellence and new cross-disciplinary or multidisciplinary work around three main sectors:
- Geographical and historical spaces,
- Health / education / technological innovations,
- Art / humanities / languages.
The university’s laboratories work with the new structures to promote high quality research: The House of human sciences in Brittany, the Institute of the two Americas.
International
The University of Rennes 2 is present on all five continents. International exchanges exist in domains in which the university has earned a strong reputation: art, humanities, languages, human and social sciences. More than a hundred agreements have been signed with foreign universities on all continents, mainly in Europe, North America, South America and Africa. Rennes 2 has become a member of the Franco-Algerian, Franco-Moroccan and Franco-Brazilian doctoral colleges. The University of Rennes 2 is also involved in the "Support Consortiums for francophone studies in South-East Asia", especially with the Master's degree in Euro-Asian economical relations, relocated in Hanoï, which welcomes Europeans, Vietnameses, Cambodians and Laotians students.
