The Goëmar Group from Saint-Malo, which specialises in natural, algae-based products to feed and protect plants, is strengthening its expansion on the international market.

The company has recently finalised arrangements for a new team in Kuala Lumpur, to cover Malaysia, of course, as well as Thailand and China where it already operates, in addition to India, Vietnam, Cambodia and Indonesia, countries in which it has not been present before. The aim is to deploy its agronomic products for tropical fruit tree production (mangoes, pawpaws etc.) and for the growing of rice, based on the experience it has gained in the USA through Agrimar, its subsidiary for the past 25 years. The group also intends to open a subsidiary in Brazil by the end of 2012. To do this, it is seeking to take over an agricultural supplies company that would complement its own range of products in a country which is paying more and more attention to sustainable farming practices. These two deployments come on top of the company’s work in Italy in February 2011. By targeting the international market, the company is building on the experience it has built up in France. In 2011, it achieved 60% of its turnover on the export market, in 45 countries.

Since July 2011, the management and some of the employees have acquired a shareholding in the company. One-half of the 80 employees share 5% of the equity capital, with the remainder in the hands of BeCapital and Péchel Industries since they took over Goëmar in June 2010.
