PagesJaunes is developing and hosting its web gateway site in Rennes

The PagesJaunes company employs 90% of its technical pagesjaunes.fr management in Rennes, a total of 65 people in two teams.

The Development and Industrialisation team acts as project manager for fixed pagesjaunes.fr website apps, drawing on the team’s expertise in the development of web apps, mainly in Java, based on search engines. In 2011, the challenges for PagesJaunes lay with the site’s graphic and functional development, a move designed to enhance its position as local media, develop the editorial contents and improve the comprehensive nature of the data. Professionals can now modify or add their data online, one example being the addition of their eco-responsibility status. The Production Hosting team manages the hosting of PagesJaunes computer apps, including fixed and mobile sites, in an environment that attracts high traffic flows and requires a high level of availability. The large number of hits on pagesjaunes.fr (France’s 9th most visited website) brings with it technical constraints that have led to the implementation of an industrialised, and highly controlled, development process. Both teams call on external expertise throughout the development cycle, provided by computer service and engineering companies as well as by SMEs with innovative and very specialised technological skills.
