Rennes 1 University performs well in the 2017 Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects

Rennes 1 University is ranked in 14 of the 52 academic subject areas of the 2017 ranking published by the Shanghai Ranking Consultancy, which ranks over 4,000 universities across the world.

Rennes 1 performs particularly well in mathematics, where it ranks among the world’s top 75 universities, and in water resources, where it is ranked between 76th and 100th.

The other subjects where Rennes 1 University achieved a ranking are: Chemistry, Earth Sciences (151-200th); Ecology, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Medicine (201-300th); Materials Science and Engineering, Environmental Science, Biological Sciences, Agricultural Sciences (301-400th); finally Computer Science (401-500th).

Rennes 1 University also performed well for its scientific publications in the latest CWTS Leiden bibliometric ranking, published on May 18th, achieving 13th place in France and 427th in the world.

The Academic ranking of world universities is based on a number of criteria, such as the number of Nobel prizes and Fields medallists among the faculty, the number of scientists with the highest number of citations in their field, the number of publications in research journals like Nature and Science, the number of scientists listed in the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) and the Social Science Citation Index (SSCI), as well as average faculty performance.www.shanghairanking.com
